Ideal Zipper
« on: June 06, 2018, 05:01:35 PM »
I just purchased a 2006 LivinLite QuickSilver 10 "pop-up" trailer. There is no hard-top, the top is entirely canvas and/or vinyl and the bottom is aluminum (nothing to rust/rot).

The canvas is in good shape. Except it shrank on the one side of the trailer, so that the privacy window layer, can no longer close and the zippers do not stay together. The windows have 3 layers: the screen, a plastic rain cover, and a privacy cover (which I assume is vinyl but may be canvas).

The former owners were apparently forcefully stretching the privacy covers, to get them to close, and they just don't fit anymore due to shrinkage. See attached pictures.

The existing zippers have an "IDEAL" logo on them, but they do not note what size they are. Anyone know what size they are?

Also, anyone know if these older zippers or a newer compatible size, are available to purchase anywhere? I did send an email to nc@idealfastener.com (manufacturing in the USA) but not sure I'll hear back.

I'm considering creating something like the EZ-Xtend Boat Zipper (www.canvas-boat-cover-and-repair-advisor.com/ez-xtend-boat-zippers.html) if I can find matching zippers that will allow me to make an expansion zipper like this.

Hoping someone can help!

Hello,
Since Ideal zippers arenít compatible with ez-xtend boat zippers, you will have to have them sell you some zippers in order to accomplish your goals.
This could be tricky, since they only sell wholesale as far as I am aware.
Best Regards,
