OTP verification issues during game sign-up - anyone else?

Is anyone else constantly having issues with OTP (one-time password) verification when signing up for new games? It's like a 50/50 chance whether the code actually arrives, or I'm stuck hitting "resend" a million times. Sometimes, it comes through after 10 minutes, by which point I've usually given up. I was trying to sign up for a new game last night, and the OTP never arrived at all! It's incredibly frustrating. It's kind of ironic that they use OTP verification to supposedly increase security when it often creates more problems than it solves. You'd think with all the advancements in technology, they could find a more reliable way to verify users without relying on something as flaky as SMS delivery. Maybe it's a cost-saving measure, or maybe it's just a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," even when it clearly is a little broken.
