For Sale / 2018 Livin' Lite 21RBS Platinum For Sale

Price: $27,500 (Original MSRP $43,000)

This is one of those trailers you are looking for...  Single owner that has been extremely well maintained.  If it feels brand new, THIS IS IT!

We purchased our CampLite 21RBS trailer after looking at many of the competition's models. The livability, strength, total weight, and all-aluminum construction of this trailer convinced us to purchase it. We are glad we made that decision, and we expected to keep it forever. Unfortunately, age and health issues have changed that expectation, and the trailer's sale is the best choice for us at this time.

Our trailer has been kept in a secured storage with Trailer cover (included) and has been well maintained. The trailer has Azdel composite panels and a strong aluminum sub-frame plus super lightweight and all-aluminum studs and rafters. This trailer is wood free, meaning there is nothing to rot or mildew if it was ever to have a leak. Because of the all-aluminum construction, the dry weight is only 3,650 LB and GVWR is only 5,468 LB, making it towable behind mid-size vehicles (we use our 2016 Toyota Highlander). The windows are European-style double acrylic glazed; these awning style windows open to 90 degrees, providing protection from the weather and ventilation at the same time.

Livin' Lite stopped production and closed in 2018. Our 2018 21RBS Platinum is one of the last models built using the all-aluminum construction pioneered and perfected by Scott Tuttle, the founder of Livin' Lite.

An evaluation at https://camperadvise.com said, "Livin' lite trailers are always very lightweight, and they are yet durable in their construction. These trailers can last a lifetime. One of their finest trailers is the Camplite travel trailer." This website further said, "This solid camper is dependable." They also gave Camplite a rating of 9 or higher out of 10 for the characteristics of Quality, Accommodation, Interior Design, and Liveability.

General Q & A / 21RBS trailer cover
November 01, 2021, 12:44:31 PM
Does anyone have a recommendation for a brand that fits nicely for a 2018 21RBS Camplite

What I have seen is either just a bit to small or way too big.

CampLite Travel Trailers / King OmniPro Antenna
July 23, 2020, 02:09:55 PM
I have a 2018 21RBS trailer.  The antenna has not worked since I got the trailer.  It hasn't bothered me as the outside cable connection appears to work and it is rare for us to use over the air signals.

However I wonder if anyone out there knows anything about how the antenna should work and what connections should be in place to make it work.

Here is what I have determined...

There is a grey coax connected to the Cable port on the back of King wall mount power injector which seems to match with the external coax-in port on the outside of the trailer as well as the coax port for an external TV.  So I assume the grey coax is for cable reception and that all appears to work fine when connected to a cable service at a camp ground.

In the ceiling behind the King Wall Mount Power Injector there are 2 coax cables laying in the ceiling, One white one and One black one.  Does anyone know what the difference of black or white means and I am guessing that one of them goes to the antenna but which one?

When I connect the black to the antenna port on the plate and depress the power button on the plate, run the scan on the TV, I get NO channels found.

When I connect the white coax to the antenna port on the back of the plate, press the power button the LED lights up for a second and immediately goes out.  (Not sure why this happens, anyone want to guess?). Clearly with no power to the plate I get NO channels found as well when I scan on the TV.

I called King for support and they said who knows what might be going on as they wouldn't know if it was installed properly in the first place!  That is, they were NO HELP!

I am hopeful someone out there may have an idea of what to might be going on.

Should I order a new wall plate?

CampLite Travel Trailers / What does EGS mean?
July 03, 2019, 08:07:11 PM
Anyone know what EGS as it relates to the aluminum framing on a travel trailer from Livin Lite might mean?

I have a drawing from Livin Lite of the back wall of my 21RBS travel trailer.  At the bottom of the drawing it shows studs with cross hatching and it says EGS Flush This Side but I have no idea what EGS might mean?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Is there anyone out there that might know any measurements from the left side wall across the back wall to drill a hole to attach a Exterior RV ladder?

I am looking to add a Stromberg Carlson ladder to the back wall of my 21RBS trailer.  My preference would be to install it on the drivers side of the back wall.

The installation instructions I have found online require the ladder to be attached to the Trailer Blocking or Sub Frame.  My assumption is that the exterior skin of the trailer is attached to some framing of some sort.  I wonder if anyone knows what the layout of the framing might be so I can drill successfully into the framing to add the ladder.  That is, are the Joists of the framing (if you will) on 12 or 16 inch centers for example?

If anyone has done this addition please send my pictures of the final install.

Thanks Rod

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You are on the right track.  We replaced the one on our 2018 21RBS

We went to Lowes and bought a relatively inexpensive (~$40) replacement faucet that is clearly better quality than the plastic factory installed version.  The one we got doesn't have the big goose neck and it actually pours more into the sink than the goose neck so it doesn't splash out like the old one did.

Installation was pretty easy I just had to move the connecting hose a bit to get the old one out.  The face plate on the counter top fit perfectly and is again better quality so it looks better.

Good luck.

All the connections were on the inside.  I unscrewed the face plate and changed the coax connection on the underside of the plate.  Make sure that the little green light on the face plate turns green when you depress the button.  If it turns on then I assume your scan should work as designed.

Hope this works.

Here are the links to the new table and the Lagun leg I referenced...

https://www.marineteak.co.uk/lagun-adjustable-swivelling-cockpit-table-mounting-system-331     (Table mount)

https://www.webstaurantstore.com/45775/restaurant-tables.html      (Table top 30" square)

Also here is a link for a great shower extender we installed....

https://www.strombergcarlson.com/shower-rods-and-laundry-accessories/extend-a-shower/      Check out the forum for posts about this extender.  It is awesome.  There is a little mods required to make it fit but it was pretty easy.

We bought a new shower curtain and cut it to fit width wise.  The length was long enough to fit inside the shower enclosure so we put some Velcro on the base in the middle and applied a piece of Velcro on the outside of the curtain to hold it in place so water couldn't splash out the bottom.  One side of the curtain has the tiny suction cups that press against the shower wall so that stays in place as well.  One final mod we did was to install a Command strip hook on the front wall and the back wall of the shower stall at the height of the shower rod so when you get in the shower we hook the last ring on each side of the shower curtain on the command strip hook and that also keeps the water inside and doesn't splash out!

The next time we go get the trailer, I'll take some pictures of what I tried to describe.

Hope this helps.

We have a 2018 21RBS wit the dinette option.  I noticed the base on the standard post has an adjustment that is treaded to bring the base tight to the floor after you lock it into the floor mount.  Not sure that will help as we went ahead and bought the Lagun table support from Lagun@marineteak (check them out).  They are based in England but in less than 48 hours I ordered and received the leg through FedEx.  These guys have customer service figured out!  It was pricy ($143) but well worth the investment.   I also bought a larger table top from WebResturant Store (30" square table) that is awesome.

The new table top is heavier obviously than the original so I had to add a U bolt to the side mount for the Lagun leg but it is easily removed to make the dinette into a bed when needed.

We love the extra table and floor space and being able to swivel the table totally out of the way for travel is nice as well.

Hope this helps.

So I am of the opinion that the resale value of the Livin' Lite is going remain strong for all the reasons all of us bought them in the first place.  Quality, never having to worry about rot just to name a few.

When we were looking for our unit trying to find a used one was really hard because people keep them because they LAST.

I am betting that the same will hold true once they stop making them because they will be rare and still going strong.

I assume Thor is making a huge mistake stopping production but good for us that own the last ones made.  It would be interesting to know the real story of why they are stopping production.

We love our 21RBS and are constantly surprised on how well built they are and easy to use.

We have a 2016 Highlander towing our unit and we live in the mountains of NC.  The Toyota has the factory tow package and is more than capable of taking our unit anywhere we have wanted to go.

So DjSamuel & DavidM,

What input do you have about this question...

To keep the fridge cooling on a trip I assume that I need to be having the propane tanks open and when I disconnect from a site power connection, the fridge will switch over to gas because it would be on AUTO, as you have said after a couple of tries to get it started off of gas.

Do you agree with the assumption?

Clearly if I turn the tanks off while driving the fridge will not stay cooling in my mind.

Thanks for your input.

Please chime in with some advice for how the 2 way fridge works.

The manual says that pushing in the Gas button tells the fridge to select either A/C or gas and will pick A/C over gas as a priority.

If the propane tanks are turned off will a check light come on if the gas button is pressed in?

We are trying to cool the fridge down before our trip tomorrow and we have turned the Fridge ON, we have pressed the Gas button in and I have turned the propane tanks open.  The Auto light is illuminated which makes me think all is fine.

I believe the fridge should select A/C but to be honest I am not sure?  To be clear, I have the unit plugged into an extension cord plugged into the house and attached to the 30 AMP power cord connected to the trailer.  The light on the 30 AMP cable shows a blue light so I am sure power is going to the trailer.

If I close the propane tanks I believe a Check light comes on and I don't think the fridge will cool down.  I can reset the check light when this happens by turning the fridge OFF and then ON but will it run off the A/C only or will it still try to find a propane source?

There isn't any 800 number for Dometic I can find otherwise I'd call them for help.

Thanks for any input anyone can pass on.

CampLite Travel Trailers / Re: Stove Hood Fan
April 01, 2018, 08:00:34 AM
I am guessing my new FanTastic Vent I installed will take care of removing any heat from cooking before it ever gets to the smoke detector so we aren't going to worry about trying to retrofit some stove hood fan.

Go ahead and post any ideas you might have however if someone gets clever on how to make a hood fan work.
