Hey olliequota, welcome to the RV life! Roof care is the #1 thing that separates a happy camper from a soggy nightmare.
Here's what I do (and what most full-timers swear by):
Wash every 3-4 months with mild RV soap and a soft brush on a pole – never abrasive pads.
After washing, inspect every seam, vent, and AC flange. Any hairline crack gets a bead of Dicor self-leveling or Eternabond tape immediately.
Once a year (spring or fall), I recoat the entire roof with two coats of Heng's rubber roof coating or Liquid Roof – it adds UV protection and another waterproof layer. Takes a weekend and costs way less than one leak repair.
Keep weight off the roof when possible – use a good ladder and plywood if you have to walk up there.
Pro tip: If you ever spot soft spots or bubbling, don't wait – water travels fast inside those sandwich panels.
