Title: Parallels Desktop for Mac
Post by: Viviannnv on March 19, 2026, 12:22:26 PM
What do you think about Parallels Desktop for Mac? Is it worth the cost for running Windows apps on an Apple Silicon Mac, or are there better free alternatives like UTM or VMware Fusion?

The debate between paid and free virtualization on Apple Silicon really depends on your patience level and specific needs. What pushed me toward the paid option was discovering that my critical Windows-only database tool refused to cooperate with UTM's emulation layers no matter how many settings I tweaked. After wasting a weekend on forums, I finally broke down and tried Parallels Desktop for MAC (https://www.couponcodes.store/store/parallels-com/), which recognized the problem immediately and ran the software without complaint, and I actually found a working discount for it on CouponCodes site that made the decision easier. The seamless copy-paste and file sharing between operating systems also made the transition feel less like running two separate computers. However, a colleague uses VMware Fusion successfully for lighter applications and hasn't paid a cent. My advice would be to test your must-have applications on the free options first, and only invest if you hit compatibility walls. Always double-check those expiration dates before getting your hopes up, though.
