I've been trying to improve my touch typing in Spanish, but most typing practice tools I've found are primarily designed for English users. While searching for alternatives, I recently discovered a project called Mecanografía, which seems to be focused specifically on Spanish typing training.
According to the information on the site, the project started in 2026 in Salou, Tarragona (Spain) and aims to become a reference platform for Spanish typing tests and typing practice. Since it originates from Catalonia, the platform also offers typing practice for the Catalan language.
At the moment, the site includes around 20 training texts, and the developers plan to add new texts regularly. What I found interesting is that once you begin typing, the platform immediately starts showing real-time statistics, including:
KPM (Keystrokes per minute)
Accuracy
Time
Typing level
Another helpful feature is the ability to switch the keyboard view between Windows and Apple (Mac) layouts, so the on-screen keyboard matches the one you actually use.
The tool is also completely free, which makes it easy to try without creating an account.
If anyone wants to check it out, here's the mecanografia site (https://mecanografia.info/practicar-teclado/)
A few questions for the community
What platforms do you use for learning touch typing in Spanish?
Do you think practicing with longer texts is more effective than short exercises?
What typing speed would you consider a solid level for professional work?
Are there any other good free typing practice websites worth trying?
Would love to hear what tools others are using and what has worked best for you.
