Title: Choosing the right walkway design for my backyard
Post by: Jomix on August 20, 2025, 04:58:49 PM
I'm thinking of updating my backyard this summer and want to replace the old concrete path with something more stylish. I've seen people using interlocking stones and it looks amazing, but I'm not sure if it's practical or long-lasting. Has anyone done a walkway project like this and can share advice?

It really depends on the style of your home and how much maintenance you're ready to commit to. Interlocking stones can look great, but they require proper installation.

I worked on a similar project last year and decided to go with interlocking stones instead of pouring new concrete. At first, I wasn't sure if it was the best option, but after researching, I realized it had both durability and a really polished look. You should check out https://oakshs.ca/walkway-interlocking/ because it provides plenty of insight into how professional interlocking is done. What I loved about this solution is the flexibility—you can choose colors, patterns, and shapes to match your backyard style. The stones are built to withstand weather changes and heavy use, so they don't crack as easily as concrete. Plus, if one piece gets damaged, it's easy to replace instead of redoing the entire walkway. For me, the long-term value and minimal upkeep made it the right choice. It's been a year now, and it still looks brand new.
