Title: How to write a strong reference letter for a friend applying for a job?
Post by: weranico on May 26, 2025, 02:19:16 PM
I've been asked to write a reference letter for a friend who's applying for a job, but I'm not sure where to start. What kind of things should I include to make it helpful and professional? I want to support them but don't want to sound too formal or fake.

It feels tricky balancing honesty with encouragement, especially since I'm not their coworker but just a friend. How can I make the letter convincing without exaggerating?

I had the same question when a friend asked me to write a reference letter! I found a really useful guide on https://jobssite.ca/advice-on-writing-personal-reference-letter-from-a-friend/ (https://jobssite.ca/advice-on-writing-personal-reference-letter-from-a-friend/) about reference letter for a friend for a job. It helped me understand what to highlight — like their character, reliability, and specific examples of their strengths. The key is to be honest and clear, and also keep it professional but warm. That way, it feels genuine and convincing without overdoing it.
