Title: Towing with a Kia Sorento
Post by: Noaol111 on July 04, 2018, 05:59:44 PM
Has anyone towed with a Kia Sorento? I have a 2013 Sorento SX AWD V6. I want to know if I need a weight distribution hitch. I am mainly concerned with the tongue weight since we travel light so I think we can keep the weight at 3000 lbs or less. My gross tow weight is 3500 with 350 max tongue weight. I know that I am not going to be over my factory tow limits but I like to tow at 90% or less of  the maximum limit. We would to purchase a Camplite 13 QBB and help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You shouldn't have any problem towing with the V6. It is a 3.5 liter engine which is the same as the one in our 2013 Pathfinder which tows our 16TBS just fine with no WDH. But the Pathfinder is a heavier and longer wheelbase vehicle and I think you are wise to limit yourself to the 13 QBB. It weighs a few hundred pounds less than the 16TBS and I think you will stay below 3,000 lbs. Can't say for sure about the tongue weight as that is very specific to model. With the single axle, you will probably have a higher tongue weight than our 16TBS with two axles. But measure it at the dealer. You probably need to be well below 300 lbs dry with an LPG tank and battery to allow for gear. Don't take the factory or the dealer's word for it.
