In our experience across several different companies, quality control problems seem to be an issue across the entire RV/camper industry. QC issues within Livinlite are certainly nothing new, as evidenced by a quick Google or forum search.
And, we as eager consumers give these companies zero reason to change, as we keep buying these things.
If a company were to emerge with attention to quality, detail, and service at a reasonable price, they'd make a killing in the industry.

Hi, we're looking into buying a Quicksilver 10.0; have been watching YouTube but haven't seen one in person yet. Can someone please provide the dimensions of the Aluminum Rear Deck (length x width)? Thanks.

The deck on our 8.1 is approximately 62"x25" and is VERY MUCH worth getting if possible. In fact, that was one of the factory options that drew me to Livin Lite.

QuickSilver Tent Campers / Re: Sealing canvass tent

Try seasoning the canvas. Just soak it with a hose or rain several times and the thread will expand sealing the seams.

Exactly. The canvas has to be seasoned.

But don't make my mistake: I soaked it lightly with a garden hose, thinking that was adequate. A few days later it rained heavily and there were multiple leaks, indicating I didn't "season" it enough. On a good note, the rain seasoned it for me.

I've since used it in a steady 8 hour downpour and at no point did it leak.

Lesson to be learned from this? When you think you've soaked it sufficiently, wet it some more. When your finished doing that, then wet it even more.

QuickSilver Tent Campers / Bike Rack Solution
May 06, 2018, 05:03:41 PM
Occasionally, members post asking for bike rack options and solutions. Here is something I finished up last month. I borrowed this idea from a member on another user group and modified it to accomodate two bikes.

The racks are 1UP USA roof racks. Not the cheapest option, but well worth every penny. The racks are milled aluminum and made in the USA. The rack's only contact point with the bike is on the tires. (Long term friction rub is a concern, especially with carbon fiber bikes.) I've been using one of their hitch mounted racks practically year round (NE winters...) for over 5 years and have had zero issues.

The mounting bracket were from McMaster-Carr.

I though I read a thread on Expedition Portal about a conversion. It's worth a search.

Did Livinlite give any kind of explanation as to what actually happened to cause this issue with your camper?

Welcome from Schuylkill County; Shenandoah Heights, specifically.

I have to echo Chappy and recommend State Parks. Promised Land, Hickory Run, Locust Lake, etc.,

Seven Points (Raystown Lake) should be relatively close to you and is run by the Army Corp of Engineers/Federal. Probably the nicest campground I've ever been to - and for only about $29 a night.

Shady Maple RV in PA (Lancaster area) is an 'LL dealer, though they don't have any in stock.
They will order one, as they did for my wife and I.
Order to completion took about 6 weeks.

If a dealer can order the truck camper, they should be able to order a tent camper.

If you are buying new, my advice is to factory order it to your specifications.
Then it will be EXACTLY as you want it.

RockorSomething, actually in Entropy's case it is because its an off-road model which, along with the 14XLP, has always used the heavier 2200# axle. However, as I understood it from my conversations with LL, plans were in the works to move to the heavier duty axle for all 8.0,8.1 and 10.0 campers at some point in the 2018 model year. (probably after they used up all on-hand stock of the 1500# units) This is now reflected in LL's published specs online for those models. Just another thing to keep in mind when shopping for one of these 2018 change-over model year units; cargo capacity can vary significantly depending on whether the production date was before or after the axle upgrade.

It's nice to hear about the entire quicksilver line upgrade to the 2200# axle.
It's kinda hard for anyone to be critical of THAT change. :)

And for the record, my 2018 (late August build) definitely has the 2200# axle, granted I also have the offroad package.

Here's a reference pic of the 2200# axle label for future buyers...

I recently compared specs with another QS 10.0 owner and this is what we've noted.

2017 10.0 - LP, AC, rear deck, 1500# axle, brakes, standard tires
Total Weight:  1340 lbs.
Cargo Weight:  260 lbs.
Hitch Weight:  140 lbs.

2018 10.0 - LP, AC, rear deck, 1500# axle, brakes, standard tires
Total Weight:  1280 lbs.
Cargo Weight:  320 lbs.
Hitch Weight:  190 lbs.

2018 10.0 - LP, AC, rear deck, 2200# axle, off road tires
Total Weight:  1340 lbs.
Cargo Weight:  860 lbs.
Hitch Weight:  190 lbs.

Wow!
That's a pretty significant jump in allowable Cargo Weight with the second 2018. I'm assuming that is the result of the 2200# axle.

Isn't this Azdel fiberglass a new laminate and not the old fiberglass?  From what I understand the delamination of the old fiberglass was due to the luan layer getting wet.  The new fiberglass is laminated onto an Azdel layer (no luan).   To me, it makes sense that without a luan layer, the delamination problem may not occur.  Has anyone heard of delamination occuring with the new Azdel Fiberlglass laminate?

I researched Azdel since I had similar concerns. One of the best videos I found to illustrate the difference between Azdel versus Luan backing can be seen in this video.

As this is a 'LL forum, I hope I'm not overstepping some boundary by showing a video made by their competition.

....

You can tell me how great all this new stuff is and I will ask you will the trailer last 30 years?  Not without delamination of the fiberglass, and a TPO roof it will not.

Wait A second...

30 years??

QuickSilver Tent Campers / Re: 2018 Benches - Update

We just picked up our 2018 and as of our build date (8-28), I can confirm the dinette benches are again removable.
