This is super helpful! I am going camping again this weekend and hope I can figure it out. I will light my stove first and have the switch in the on position, with the thermostat set.  That switch is very hard to get on! If you have time, I have a few more questions. The heat works off propane... I thought it was electric. How do we run things off the battery if we do not have a place to plug up?

The camper's electric control center will pull 12v current (only) from the battery when not plugged up to shore power.. which means no a/c or wall plug service. The 12vdc fan/lights, furnace blower and 12v 'cigarette lighter' plug will work as long as your battery holds up.

I have a quicksilver 8.0 (2016) and can't get the furnance on. Any tips? We are camping and it's cold. It came on briefly when we first turned it on last night, but air was cold and it then shut off to never come back on. This is a new to us camper and our only second time out.

One thing we 'discovered' ourselves when trying to turn on the furnace for the first time is that there is a small, undocumented, barely legibly labeled cutoff switch on top of the thermostat housing that needs to be switched 'on' for the furnace to work. This switch is very hard to flip 'on' .. i thought the plastic  was going to break before it 'snapped' into the on position .. it sounds like your furnace is stopping after the purge cycle, exactly how ours did when that switch is 'off' and the thermostat calls for heat.

Look under the trailer and see if you can read the serial number engraved on the axle, then call or email Dexter Axles and they can give you all the info you'll need to fit brakes to your specific model torsion axle.

Is your 8.0 a 2018 model? If so, then unfortunately the vinyl flooring is a thin top layer which is 'permanently bonded' to the fiberglass top-sheet of the azdel and foam laminate flooring. I have personally seen issues with that same flooring in a 2018 QS10.0 we ended up returning due to QC and substandard materials used. There are multiple threads on this forum describing the flooring construction and problems with the changes introduced with the 2018 model year builds. As you know, Thor has discontinued production of these campers, no doubt in part because of the expense and expertise required to build them as they were originally designed to be, imho.

Ok, let's get the disclaimer out of the way up front: I was one of the shocked and disappointed early-build 2018 QS10.0 recipients (delivered in June 2017) and successfully petitioned LL to take back the 2018 and replace it with an unsold 2017 model.

In my short experience with the composite floor I observed:

1) it 'dents' and tears easily and the top vinyl 'appearance layer' is permanently bonded to the thin fiberglass top substrate layer.. no chance of replacing it unless you lay another layer on top.

2) the azdel composite used as sandwich layers for the styrofoam center are not stiff enough to prevent the floor from flexing underfoot when not directly supported by a frame member. Another member here offered his opinion that the azdel and styro layers were not adequately bonded to each other and allowed the separate layers to 'slip' when under pressure.

3) neither the azdel or foam will hold a screw for long.. there are reports of walls and sofas coming loose in new composite-floored Camplites.

4) the composite floor in my 2018 Quicksilver 10.0 began sagging on its own taking on permanent deformations in areas where no frame supports existed. I think this was accelerated due to the nearly 100 degree F ambient temps last summer where I reside.

5) the black fabric underlayer which is supposed to protect the floor from road debris tears easily, exposing the friable azdel layer to the elements. My 2018 was delivered with several tears right from the factory.

I'll leave this admittedly too-long and somewhat biased narrative to say: we absolutely LOVE our 'all-aluminum' 2017 QS 10.0.

LL rates the rear deck at 150 lbs. max. 

Which, as I understand it, is the maximum recommended load that will not overly lighten the tongue weight which would adversely affect handling. Structurally, the deck will support far more than 150lbs (It easily supports 185+ lbs when I stand on it)

Kmwrock, yes.. but only when placing an order for a newly built camper.. there are structural differences (under body supports, extended frame rails, more rearward offset to axle, etc) which allow LL to put that deck on the back and retain structural support without negatively affecting handling and load capacity. It's been asked before and unfortunately LL does not recommend adding a deck as an 'upgrade'. 

Congrats on your purchase.. you have one of the last of the 'all aluminum' QS 10's .. in mid-2017 LL switched to styro and fiberglass composite floors and walls.

QS models built this year, even only a month apart, can be very different campers in terms of construction since 2018 is the model year where Thor/KZ implemented a frame-up redesign of the entire QS line. Case in point is the QS10 from 2017 to 2018 model year build, where overall weight dropped 60lb (composite floor and walls vs all-aluminum) but tongue weight went from 130lb to 190lb due to moving the axle 4" to the rear (ostensibly to offset a potentially overloaded rear deck). Is your friend's QS 6.0 an all-aluminum deck model? Does yours have a deck?

Sorry to hear about Dan if it's true he's no longer with LL... he was instrumental in helping a few of us get resolution from LL who were caught unaware by the QS line's total redesign and had serious quality issues with some early build 2018 units.

The LP tank and battery were in the positions shown on my camper, I didn't have to move them. I was thinking that I'd have to move the LP gas pressure regulator to fit the cover, but as it turned out this cover fit perfectly without mod. I did drill two holes in the bottom rear edge of the cover to run large tie straps thru to secure it to the frame. Thanks for the compliment on the benches. 3) Dinette bench top lids. One of the things we noticed was the hatch covers on the dinettes 'bend' under weight and can suddenly collapse into the bench, esp. in warmer weather and def when kneeled upon! Solution was to use a 3/8" thick sheet of abs plastic connected as a hinged lid to the benches, an unanticipated bonus was that it also perfectly leveled the platform when the table was folded down into a bed!

23" x 48 3/16" x .375" abs sheet with 1/2" radiused corners sourced from TAP Plastics in Ca thru online order. 48" x 1 1/2" piano hinge sourced from Lowes.

2) LP Hose holder on back of dinette so it doesn't flop around when raising/lowering top cabinet.

3/4" electrical conduit clamp thru bolted to back of cabinet.

1) Camco Single LP Tank Cover and battery disconnect switch.

There is also a support arm that fits in the bracket that's bolted to the trailer near the bottom edge below the table bracket. There is a similar one on the underside of the table's leading edge.
