Hi all,  I have a CampLite 8.4s 2017 that has all of the drains inside a compartment underneath the rear camper extension that goes beyond my truck bumper.  INSIDE mind you.  So, even though I have now added drain shut off ball valves to each of the water drains, it is still possible for me to end up with water in this enclosed space that has NO drain plug to release the water with.  Before I got my ball valves all set up tightly with thread tape I kept having leaks that led to my compartment getting about 1/2" of water.
This compartment runs the FULL width of the camper too.  Or water would spray all over in there and the lighting wires and all kinds of other wiring goes through there too!

Anyhow, I wondered what you thought of my creating external drains from these internal connections, maybe even the grey and black water drains too.  Our old truck campers always had all of them below the lowest point of the camper on the outside and it worked perfectly.  My camper cannot be lowered enough to have any ground interference issues either.

Thanks,
Rayne

I have a 2017 Camplite TC 8.4s and recently realized that the so-called exterior diamond plate on my rig is actually only plastic!  I was looking into attaching batteries for my solar system to the outside walls under the camper and in front of my wheel wells on my truck bed.  Boy did I feel stupid.  So I just went back to Livin Lite's site and they only list the diamond plate now on their toy haulers, and I can't get the specs on the TC's anymore that say it is Diamond Plate.

Wish they hadn't sold out that division or I would really want to go after them for misleading and false product information and specs too.

Anyone else want to weigh in on this issue?

I stumbled upon a YouTube video yesterday of the 2015 Camp Lite 8.4S TC, and it did not even have the assist handle, it only had the old kind of handle that was about 8-10" long and only stuck out about an inch or two at most.  Looked to be exactly what I want installed on my camper along with the Assist Handle since that one already has holes from mounting it.

Anyone?  Dan Miller?

CampLite Truck Campers / Windows and privacy shades
June 21, 2017, 12:01:34 PM
Okay, I sure wish somewhere information and instructions on our new 2017 model window screens and shades existed.  I had NO idea that it seems that the only way we can have privacy in our camper is to close the shades, and yet these do not allow the air to pass through at all!  Granted, we can partially close them as they come up from the bottom which is helpful.  However, when sleeping when dry camping and no A/C, if we want to keep the sun out of our eyes at 5:30 a.m. this means we have to close them all the way to the top which is essentially the same as closing the window!  Seriously?  Who's idea was this one?

Also, I thought our TC windows were supposed to be able to open outwards to varying degrees, well, the ones in the bunk cab- ???over won't do anything but all the way out, nor the dinette one.  The one above the sink will only open out 1/2 of what the others do or it comes out of the bracket.  Maybe mine are defective?  Can anyone point me to the instructions on these?  My dealership is useless on this since all makes and models are different.

Thanks,

Hello, I have a CL TC 8.4S, and I am new at being the one that does everything on the campers.  So, I now know where my hot water and cold water tank drains to empty them are.  They are in the outside compartment towards the rear and lowest points of my camper.  BUT, they are on the inside and do not extend to the outside to be drained.  Therefore, once I figure out how to open the end valves (afraid of breaking them since the pipes are all plastic) I need to be able to attach something to them quickly so that I can extend them out onto the ground or into a bucket or whatever depending upon the circumstances.

Does anyone else have a solution or trick they use to do this with a truck camper?  It is easier by far on the travel trailers or motorhomes for sure.  Thanks,
Rayne

I am so frustrated, when I called interested in buying one of these Livin Lite "ultra light" campers, I told my dealership what kind of truck I had, bed length etc. F-250 XL, Diesel, 4x4, extended cab.  I was never ONCE told or asked for my GVWR nor GAWR to determine IF my truck should be able to haul anything this heavy.  Well, I now have a camper that weighs 3,027 lbs UNLOADED, and a truck with a GVWR beyond it's own weight of only 2,325 pounds!!!

Since legally the GVWR can't be raised by modifying the truck suspension, and if anything happens when I am loaded with the pickup camper on my truck, since I will be over the GVWR, my insurance doesn't have to cover me.  LOVELY, I get it on the insurance end, but why don't ALL Truck Campers say you MUST have at least a 1 ton truck, and it must have a GVWR that is above the weight of the truck camper you are buying???

I know, they have a little disclaimer in the Livin Lite book at the end of the section on how much your vehicle can carry etc. that it is the owners responsibility to only haul what is appropriate for their tow vehicle.  LOVELY, now I am screwed and have to try to find a truck that CAN carry my brand new camper.  Meaning, I can't really use my camper now until I have sold my truck and gotten one that is correct.  Of course they don't list this information on the for sale web sites either, I have to call and ask.

I think that this policy and practice on the side of the dealerships is absolutely appalling.  I am furious as a newly widowed person trying to be able to maintain some of my departed husband and I's former hobbies like camping.  This makes me so angry I am seeing red!

So, I live in central NYS currently, and if anyone knows of trucks that can fit and carry the 3,027 plus options of Air conditioner, ladder and roof rack and larger refrig, so probably closer to 3,500 pound camper, the 2017 model 8.4S in their truck bed (mine just fits it and it is a 6.8 foot bed, gas engine, and not 4x4 or diesel, as those weigh more and use up more of the GVWR because of that, and in really good shape, towing package and electric windows and A/C preferred, please let me know.  It do need the extended  cab though since I would like to take my grandchildren on occasion.  Thanks, and beware of this folks.

I need to empty my tank to take the truck and camper to be weighed today and didn't realize my freshwater tank is still mostly full.  I cannot find this on the forum, nor for this company on YouTube either, and of course, there are no photo's or specific instructions to identify the drain anywhere in our "owners" Manuals either.  can anyone help me, I was supposed to leave 30 minutes ago to do this.

Thanks,
Rayne B.

I have done it many times in my old campers but this one is a mystery somewhat.  I have attached a photo of my only external compartment to access the plumbing and grey and black water tanks.  I know there are the three pipes on one side, but the caps do not seem to be removable, and how would I connect a hose to them without getting everything wet before it was on and tight too?

General Q & A / Tank monitoring system
May 23, 2017, 01:15:58 PM
Help, where are the instructions on this option that came with mine in the XL living package?  I ask because the battery is new, plugged in for over a week now and still reads RED on all 4 dots all the way to the top.  Same as my fresh water tank-and that is empty so that makes no sense to me either.  Grey and black water only have lowest dot showing and it is RED also.

I have gone through the manuals numerous times and checked my literature as well and I swear I saw it somewhere but cannot find it now.

Thanks,
Rayne

Hi All, I have been trying to figure out what this water inlet on the side of my camper is for, and I finally did but on other forums.  Anyhow, it was confusing because it has a CAUTION sticker above saying, "Do not use the tank flusher valve unless the FULL WAY TERMINATION VALVE is in the open position.  Seriously???  So, since I could not find this full way valve mentioned anywhere in my literature other than the page explaining how to use my flusher I next went to the website of the company that made the Flusher and had made the instructions sheet which says something entirely different but much clearer. "Sewar valve must be open when using this inlet."  still not perfectly clear for sure, but better.  Guess what, they do not have FLUSHER instructions on their site anymore, they are listed but the link has been removed.  WWW.BandBmolders.com (no caps).  So, now I am wondering if this is the correct one in my tank after all???  Oh, and ther instruction sheet separate from the manual also says to turn on the open the faucet valve and flush until water is clear from the discharge hose????
Which faucet valve are they referring to?  The one at the other end of the hose attached to the utility pole at the campground or at home?  Thanks, these things make me crazy, just use plain English please.

Dan Miller, can you address this?

Thanks,
Rayne

Okay, here's my problem, I have a 8.4S LL TC, and the only handle to use getting into and out of the rear and only door is one of the assist handles that can be lifted and folded flat against the back outside of the camper to get them out of the way.  Unfortunately, when you have a truck camper on the truck, and your truck is 4 wheel drive, it makes the back end of the camper's first step about 2 feet off the ground.  So the obvious thing to do is grab the handle to help pull you up securely right?

Not if you have one of the "assist" handles because they end up coming away from the wall (not coming out of the wall, just away) and then their weather seal is pulled away from the camper's outside wall, exposing the two fasteners to water from weather.

I would like to know if anyone else had a different handle handle added to use when you need to pull yourself into your campers, and if so, what one did you get and how do you know you aren't interfering with the wiring of anything when you have your dealer install it?  Remember the old style hard aluminum handles that were about 10 inches long and matched the camper's exterior?  I sure do and I want that kind again.

Yes, I know I should put a step stool or ladder to help me get in and out, but when you already have that packed and you forgot one more thing, you don't always want to take the time to get that out.  Besides, the new TC doorways are downright narrow making it just a security thing even to grab a handle while you fit yourself through these very narrow doors now used.

Dan Miller, how can I also post this to the suggestions and modifications section here?

General Q & A / Towing behind a TC various
May 16, 2017, 10:52:17 AM
I am a newbie to the TC traveling as haven't done it solo ever before, but we used TC for many years when the kids were young so not a complete newbie, even towed with it, but had a 1 ton truck without extended cab so very different.  So, my question is, I have the TC 8.4s on a Ford 250 Super Duty diesel with towing package and extended cab.  I need to haul a bumper pull horse trailer behind this and my overhang and step are adding an addition 32" to my hitch length, YIKES.  I know I will need stabilizer or weight distribution bars on my hitch too, but has anyone else towed much with their TC's and have any insite or suggestions for me to avoid problems down the road?

oh, and I had the Road master TC springs added, and new shocks put on but now am debating whether to add another spring to my leaf springs or to have air bags installed.  Has anyone had any problems with the airbags?  I live in upstate NY where we have winter and can't find anywhere indoors to store this baby in the winter so far as on my truck is too tall to get into the barns doorways.

Thanks,
Rayne

I have a 2017TC 8.4S and the model of my converter is not one of the ones that you have manuals posted for Dan.  I now know it is not the battery that is my problem, and my slide-out gives the alarm of circuit going to ground when I unplug it for a short time from the power as the battery cannot charge much due to something draining it constantly.  I know my converter fan runs quite a bit as soon as I plug the electric back in to the camper too.
