Title: Air Conditioner Questions
Post by: ikejul on February 20, 2018, 03:38:56 AM
I have been researching quicksilver 10.0, noticed...

I would appreciate any insight or input.

we have an older model 8.0 with air conditioning. it has the side door which houses the ac unit on a slide. the unit extends somewhat into the interior space, but it is covered, so my wife uses that area as a night stand. we like it a lot... it works very well and is well protected during transport. its the first thing we pull out as we arrive at camp.. it chills the camper down as we setup.

1.  I had a 2018 and currently have a 2017, both with this design.  I've had no issues with wind noise or leaks.  You would have to talk with a fabricator who could install a flat door, but I think the newer campers have a deeper AC.
2.  I believe they made this change starting with the 2016 models.  All the 2015s and older I've seen have the flat door.
3.  You would have to cut a hole and install mounting rails.  This was done at the factory for my 2017.

  • Most new models have vinyl cover around the air unit. This seems like it might create wind noise, soft vinyl cover sticking out of body. Can this be replace with flat metal cover?
  • Some have flat metal door which houses air unit, which model year is this?, I assume LL no longer uses this design.
  • No air unit, no opening. What are my options if I want to add air conditioner?

I would appreciate any insight or input.

My 2010 QS10 had the sliding AC behind the door - but my Aliner had the vinyl covered AC just like the newer QS.  I towed the Aliner thousands of miles and never noticed any noise, so I'd be very surprised if there was a noise issue on the QS.
