CampLite Travel Trailers / Re: What are the windows like?

I think they are vastly superior to glass rv windows, especially the integrated day/night shade with screen and the fact that they tip out.

Can you imagine Dan fighting against the Thor tide of down market product changes and intense cost cutting , If I were him I would retire also.

I am thankful I got one of the last "true" livinlites, while my cabinet doors are wood everything else is as it was in the beginning  ;D. The dealer has been excellent with the few minor issues that have cropped up and I tell everyone who asks about my camper to buy a pre 2016 if they want the aluminum floor and roof.

I know, left it off because I didn't know if links were allowed on the forum.

Responded to your other post:

Buy a pre 2017 LL. My 21 was built in Dec of 2015, it is titled as a 2016 and has the aluminum roof and floor. By 2016 the aluminum cabinets were an option so not all of them will have them, IMHO the most important items are the floor and roof.

My camper has the wood cabinet doors but I don't mind, it is the white and makes the interior look real nice.

check with http://morealuminumtrailers looks like they have a new 2016 in stock.

General Q & A / Re: Cargo Bag or Box

Hi Lily, I made a bike carrier that was used on the top of our 2010 10.0 tent camper.

Don't have any pictures of it but I used long 2x4's to spread out the load and glued neoprene strips on the wood for padding against the camper top.

I used ratchet straps to hold carrier in place. The straps ran down the sides of the camper and were looped around the frame.

There was never any damage and it worked real good.

Currently mine is outside, 2016 21BHS with the aluminum roof. I do plan on keeping it covered starting next summer to keep the sun off it. The rain and snow don't bother me too much it is the UV rays that will destroy the paint, graphics, and tires.

They do make waterproof, breathable covers so using one of those and leaving the roof vents cracked open there shouldn't be any moisture issues. You can also leave damp-rid containers in the camper.

I am 160 lbs and walked around on my 21BHS installing fan vents, it is a 2016 with the aluminum roof.

The manufacturer likely rates it as zero weight for liability concerns.

Aluminum roofs don't wear out so I don't see the value of a warranty for it, To each their own though, if you prefer a rubber roof and that is what is on your camper then that is good.

Rubber roofs are only used because they are inexpensive for the manufacturer to buy and install. Rubber roof replacement isn't cheap, the warranty is dubious at best, and they are easily damaged by tree branches. Search RV forums on these topics, there is a lot to read.

My 2016 21BHS also has the privacy shade on the bottom, doesn't make sense to have to on the top so my guess is careless assembly and zero quality control, but this is par for the course in the RV industry.

The interior walls are azdel then the foam is behind it, if you screw into the azdel it won't hold .

You'll have to drill into an aluminum cross member in the ceiling, then use a short screw to secure the curtain wire. Finding the aluminum cross member can be difficult, there are some posts about this on the forum.

For all trouble this is worth I would try the tension rod first and see if they are adequate.

The factory table post is not a stable structure. You will need to install a different post or do what others did to shore up the stability.

Companies like ITC and Springfield Marine make locking table posts. My previous camper had a Springfield thread-lock post and it was very sturdy with not a lot of movement (it was small table and not very high though), I will be installing one on my 21BHS next year as it has to be better than the current set up.

Despite the slight denting of the aluminum roof where it joins the front cap, an aluminum roof is vastly superior to a rubber roof. It does cost more though, in both materials and labor to install. The ripples in the panel are minor, can't be seen from the ground, and don't affect the structure in any way.

The aluminum is one piece, there has to be a seam somewhere and that is at the front. My camper has the aluminum roof and floor and if it didn't I wouldn't have bought it.

Unfortunately Thor is changing the product and not for the better IMHO. aside from the obvious like the aluminum roof and floor there is no longer lighting in the bunks, extra aluminum tubing in the under bed storage (on the 21BHS), or exterior storage on the slide out.

These are just a few things I have noticed between my camper and pics of newer ones online.

Don't quote me but I think the fiberglass is part of a trim package that includes interior changes also. Most of the 2018's I see online are aluminum.

With all the other available storage I don't think it would be worth the time and materials trying to cool off that area. Keep non perishables there.
