CampLite Travel Trailers / What we learned from Dealers!
February 05, 2019, 10:58:20 AM
A little history first. We bought a Campsite 16BHB back in Oct of 2017 brand new. We love our little trailer, it has treated us well this past year. But we knew that down the road we would like to go just a little bigger. Our plan was to eventually graduate to the 21BHS but then Livin' Lite got shut down. We believed in this company and the product they delivered. I know from reading other posts the 2017 to 2018 models, are not quite up to par with the previous years. But our 2017 had no issues.  We were disappointed to hear their doors were closing and thus began our search for something that would be just as well made and held to a higher standard.

We have found our new trailer and will trade in our 16BHB for the newer bigger unit. But we wanted to share with you what dealers were telling us about our 16BHB in case there are other CampLite Owners out there looking to trade/sell within the next year or so.

Over the last few months we decided it was time to upgrade, and in doing so we learned  from Dealers (In FL, NC, NJ and SC, all over the east coast) our Trailer is now considered an "Orphan" because Livin' Lite no longer exist. These dealers told us this information off the cuff, telling us this information and suggesting that even if we do not buy from them that it would be in our best interests to do the trade with a dealer (any) as soon as possible. That if we don't do a deal now with trade or sell it out right, another year or 2 out the RV Consumer out there will never ever have heard about Livin' Lite or that they even existed. Being that these are rare to find to begin with it would become an RV that would be hard to sell out right and the value of the camper would be in the tank on trade-in value.

Just wanted to share.

Need your thoughts or feedback. We purchased a 2017 Livin Lite CL16BHB back in October. At the time of purchase we owned an 07 Jeep Wrangler and intended to buy another vehicle for me and it was going to be an 2018 Jeep Wrangler. So with that in mind we had to find something that we would be able to tow. We had our eye on a Livin Lite for the the last couple of years. We liked everything we read and heard about these trailers and allbeit small the 16bhb had everything we were looking for including the weight of 2880lbs. After a 2 or 3 camping trips that were cold wet and rainy we realized just how small that camper actually is. Don't get me wrong we love this little 16bhb but wish it were just slightly bigger.

So, we decided that eventually we will probably want to buy something bigger. We were thinking a year to 3 years down the road. With that in mind we decided to buy me a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the tow package that will tow up to 6200lbs. So that if and when we decided to purchase something bigger we had the vehicle to do it with.

We were actually thinking of upgrading to the 21bhs in a year or three. This all took place prior to the announcement of Livin Lite shutting down.

We admit we jumped the gun. We based our purchase on how much we could tow and then purchased the bigger vehicle afterwards.  Now here we are. One of the many reasons we purchased a Livin Lite was for the resale value it holds. But now they are closing and we r concerned that if we wait the resale value will not be where we originally thought. Will that be the case? Or will Livin Lite retain their value?

We know that we want to get a bigger trailer but now we can no longer get the 21bhs. Meaning we will have to find another brand. We are looking at a Gulfstream Vintage Crusier 23bhs and they are aluminum frame but are they as good as Livin Lite? Are we making a mistake? Should we do this? OR should we hang onto our 16bhb hoping the resale value won't tank but actually go up because you can no longer buy one?

NEW RV'er here. NEED your Help. We are looking at adding privacy curtains on the bunks. The hubby wants to do tension rods, but i know these are just going to fall down all the time with my 2 boys. I would like to install the IKEA Dignitet Curtain wire, but this requires drilling holes into the ceiling of our brand new camper. Is this okay? Or will drilling holes in the ceiling cause damage and possible leakage from rain or mold?

New Members / New CL16BHB Owners in North Carolina!
October 24, 2017, 12:56:41 PM
We finally made the jump to being RV Owners of a Camp Lite 16bhb! We had been talking about buying a camper for the last few years, researched it to death and really fell in love with LivinLite Campers. I grew up camping, my hubby did not. We are looking forward to the RV life and our new adventures we will take with our little ones!

Anyone ever consider putting up curtains on the bunk beds? Any reasons why we shouldn't do it? I know back in the day campers came with them already installed, but we didn't see any in our research that came with curtains to enclose the bunk beds. We think the kids would love to have the added extra privacy, really make it feel like their own little space, fort type thing.
