We switched to brass quick connects for both the drain and both water line inputs. Works wonderfully. Ordered the quick connects off of amazon as I needed three and one for dual lines. Found all the reducer pieces and parts at Lowes in plumbing under the hose connector section. Could not find them online or at Ace. Our lines are 3/4 and reduced to 1/2. Did have to add a male to male 3/4 adapter from Hose thread to pipe thread. Less than $5 an adapter and well worth the investment. With the weight of the brass on the end the line seems to drain a little faster too when removed.

We replaced with Exped Mega Mat Duo's. Best sleep ever. They are a little smaller but fit well. We lined with silver insulation and simply pop the deflate plug and leave them in place.

QuickSilver Tent Campers / Length of awning poles
August 18, 2017, 08:40:51 PM
Does anyone happen to know the length of the awning poles? We just received our awning from Top Stitch but now need pole. We are able to buy 6ft or 8ft adjustable poles just not locally. Need to order. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for this - very much.  Adding to the list once we are back from Vancouver Island. We have the same port and the blue light is rather annoying so may consider the interior location.

We have been out twice now in our QS 8.1 and so far the only thing that has really been surprising is that once the battery is connected there is no way to turn off current. You can turn of the 3 breakers but there is still current to the system (no way to check fuses without opening and unhooking cables). We thought there'd be a kill switch...the battery is hard to reach once everything is extended. Has anyone added an inline or interior kill switch?

QuickSilver Tent Campers / Re: Canoe on top

Dan - Thanks for sending the link to the pic! Building a quick PVC frame and using the Thule surf pads underneath. Nice to have the porta-bote on the trailer for traveling and the pads for roof rack once we are at base camp.

QuickSilver Tent Campers / Canoe on top

Is there any reason that we shouldnt be able to put a 14ft or smaller canoe on top of our 8.1 QS? We are aware that you do not want to put the tent down with material inbetween the bimini ribs but are looking at loading a canoe. Thoughts, comments, conjecture? Advice from those who have?

New Members / 2016 8.1 Colorado

We just purchased our 2016 8.1 and have just set up in the garage in the hopes of determining what we need to change or add. Very helpful to read through the posts prior to purchase. Heading to Rocky Mountain NP for maiden voyage in August.
