QuickSilver Tent Campers / Mattress
March 09, 2018, 09:47:31 PM
I have the factory mattress in my 06  QS10 and wish I had a bit more padding.  When I roll over my shoulder and hips feel the foam bottoming out.  Due to its age and the fabric showing some wear I want to just replace it.  I think my current mattress is about 3 inches thick.  Just off the cuff I am thinking about the new one being about 5 inches thick overall.  I have interlocking padded foam that is 1 inch thick and brand new.  I am thinking about gluing that to the bed and getting a 4 inch mattress on top of it.  Id like to hear what types of foam you have used and been pleased with as well as if you went thicker.

I found it much easier to pull the canvas from the end of the bunks than trying to actually lift the bimini poles.  I also leave the windows on the end unzipped.  When I unfold the bunks I support them with sticks one on each end that hold them about 6 inches above their assembled position.  Only after attaching the canvas fully do I remove the sticks and attach the struts.

I use a pole about 4 and a half feet long that I support the bunk with when I fold it out.  One end of the pole is on the ground and the other has a pad about 6x6 inches which goes against the bunk.    By sitting on the  pole there is no tension to pull in order to get the snaps done.  I do one side at a time and then attach the struts.
