Title: Surge Brakes
Post by: Mike E on September 07, 2017, 05:53:18 PM
Can anyone tell me if the surge brakes on the QS 8.0 have a reverse solenoid or do they have manual way of backing up?  And if the have the solenoid what kind of hookup do they use (5 flat?)  Have asked CS at Livin Lite with no reply.  Thank You

You can back up a trailer with surge brakes. You will be going slow and won't generate enough acceleration forces to trigger the brakes unless you are backing up a hill.

I wouldn't worry about not having a solenoid to disconnect the brakes while backing.

Attached is the actuator we used for surge brakes on the quicksilver.
Not a very popular option and we discontinued it quite a few years ago.
Hope this helps.  I know there was no circuit tied into the 7 way cord.
The document attached describes the procedure to keep the brakes from locking.
