CampLite Travel Trailers / Breakaway switch
February 08, 2017, 08:53:38 PM
Can somebody tell me where my breakaway switch gets its power from?  I hook it up every time I tow but I never really gave much thought as to where it's powered from. If the trailer separates from the TV while towing, obviously the power can't come from the tow vehicle. So I guess its powered from the 12v battery in the battery box on the tounge, or does it have its own seperate battery? If so, where is it located and should I be maintaining it? My trailer is all covered up for the winter so I can't really check it till spring.

Very nice!  Thanks for sharing those pics.  Other than the change to a conical nose, looks very similar to my 2016 13 QBB from the outside. They've added a few amenities to the interior as well...stove...bath...micro...etc. We love our wood plank laminate over the aluminum flooring and the aluminum framed wood grain azdel cabinets, gives it a warm cozy feel. So happy you guys are settled in your new facility. Hopefully we'll see more and more Camp Lites in our travels.

Hi Dan, Thanks for the synopsis. Those three moves during the transition explain a lot. I'm very happy Livin Lite has found a home in a state of the art facility and glad they are still being built with the option for the original cabinets. I would love to see a picture of that first 10' Camp Lite. Any chance you might have one in your files?

Thank you so much Dan, looking forward to it. You're doing great job...much appreciated! :D

I was hoping I could get somebody from K-Z RV marketing to jump in here and answer these questions. A perfect opertunity to promote your product. Oh well, I guess it will remain an untold story at least on this board... :(   Hmmm... Maybe I'll pose the same question to the pundits on the Aluminium Camper Board and see if I can get a response from them.

Hi Mark, I have a 2016 13 QBB. I noticed from your pic that your refrigerator vents are located in a different place than mine. They must have changed the floor plan. Is that a V6 Outback?

Yes, it's "just right" for us too. I was lucky I was able to purchase one before they stopped producing them. A perfect fit just in between the 11' and the 14'. The 14' has the dry bath but is about 2.5' longer and of course heavier to tow. At first I thought the wet bath would be problematic, but we are adapting quite well. All the convenience without the headaches. I've added numerous upgrades to ours.  I was able to get a lot of ideas from touring some Airstream trailers and listening to some of the things others have done to their Livin Lites on the old board. Most of my upgrades look like they were installed from the factory, although in many cases the factory doesn't even offer them as options. I was very surprised how little you get with an Airstream considering they're almost twice the cost of a Livn Lite.

Why not. Tiny houses are becoming very popular :D

Upgrades and Modifications / Re: Cabinet struts
January 12, 2017, 03:42:54 PM
I used these type of struts on the swing up overhead cabinets and bench cabinets on my 13 QBB. I had to fabricate some aluminum brackets and used aluminum pop rivets to secure. They look and function great!

It's just my wife and I, and the dog. It's offers all the convieniences, easy to maneuver, easy to store, super easy to tow. Our 13 QBB is perfect for us. If we were purchasing today, we would get the 14 footer.  A little bigger, not much heaver and still a single axle.
I  personally think the trailer looks better with-out a lift kit and with the 13" tires. I know a lot of people might disagree but unless you're going off road a lot, I just don't see the need for bigger tires and wheels...they're round, they roll, they weigh less than the 14" tires and still get the job done. I'll also ad that they're still  a lot bigger than the little tires I had on my pop ups and boat trailers and those worked just fine over the years as long as you kept your bearings packed.

Are there any historians on this forum who might want to take the time to briefly summarize the history of Livin Lite in an unbiased format so that new members of this board as well as some folks who transferd over from the now defunct Livin Lite board could be apprised of all the changes that Livin Lite has gone through over the past few years. Management? Production locations? Changes which might have caused a little controversy and some animosity amoung some owners and members? For example who is Scott Tuttle?  Who built Livin Lites after he sold out to Thor?  Is K-Z RV now building all Livin Lites  for Thor? Is K-Z as reputable a company as they say they are? Are they really trying to bring Livin Lite back to its original bones (all aluminum). Will Livin Lite keep its unique and reputable reputation? Maybe someone from Livin Lite can give us some honest answers. There have been a lot of disgruntled people on the previous board who had a lot to say and there are lot of new owners who are optimistic about their new purchase. Maybe someone from K-Z's management team might want to enlighten us! Enquiring minds want to know??

Thanks ACF, I noticed that someone went through the trouble of archiving all the old posts from the original LivinLite site to the aluminum camper forum. It's unfortunate that LL didn't do that with their new forum. They did mention that there were "things out of their control" on the old forum. Not sure what they meant by that. I have to assume that if there is any reference to this new forum on the LL web site that it will be just a matter of time before they will have many new followers. LL has been making a lot of production changes as of late (some, not so good in my opinion) the jury is still out on some of the other ones. If their intention is to censor any critical comments about their products on this site than I'll be very disappointed. Time will tell.

ACF...I'm giving it a shot. There is a category named "Ask Livn' Lite".  Maybe we will have some factory representation on this site. I don't think you'll find that on the other site.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. You mentioned better data preservation. There was a lot of invaluable information on the old site that is now lost forever. You also mentioned security, wasn't the other site secure?

Anyone else out there enjoying their 13' Livn Lite TT?  Thought I'd  start a thread specific to the 13 footers. Just to get the ball rolling. I know they don't make them any more so that makes us special  ;)
