Equipment / Re: Warranty Protection - A/C
January 15, 2017, 05:21:53 PM
The Dometic A/C in my 2013 21BHS failed after about 2 years and had to be replaced.  I had an extended warranty on the trailer and that covered it.  The tubing split and I lost all of the freon.  The systems now cannot be recharged, and the tubing is so thin it is very difficult to install a charge valve if you wanted to.

I guess it depends on the cost of the extended warranty since it just covers the A/C.  I believe it cost about $800 (without the warranty) to replace the A/C.

This is a really important question that needs to be answered, even though I agree that the occurrence of this is pretty rare.

Welcome.  Love the matching colors.

They did state they would send the side bolt hardware free of charge to those who sent in their VINs. I did so, but have not received anything to date.

LOL.  You just posted this on Dec 3rd. Well after all the Thor changes and before you knew the forum change was coming.

We have walked the campground loops for many years wondering what RV we most wished for. No more since we have our Camplite We have not seen anything we would trade for.

It's funny you wrote this.  When my wife and I walk a campground, see a camper going down the highway or make a visit to our local Camping World, we'll look at them and invariably one of us will say, "I like ours better."

I was cleaning up our 2013 21BHS yesterday, and other than the snake that surprised me in the battery box, I was really pleased with how the camper still looks and the shape it is in.  When I think how that camper has been at the Grand Canyon, up in Utah, in Tennessee, and all around Florida; it is really amazing how solid it remains.

I never said I don't like my trailer. It is a 2013, built prior to the buyout. I don't like the direction they've headed, nor do I like the change in customer service. We used to have Scott Tuttle on the boards before he left.

Are you the self designated board censor? If your don't like what then block me. Won't hurt my feelings.

Thanks for the useful input . And, if you actually knew what was going on, you'd know that most of the reason for a change of opinion is the direction Thor has taken LivinLite; the elimination of the aluminum roof, wooden cabinets,  moving them from division to dicision, loss of Personnel, etc.

I notice that the times are all EST

Is there a place we can set the time zone?

Not a big issue, I deal in UTC quite a bit so I can convert, but makes things cleaner.

You can go to the "Look and Layout" section of the modify profile function.  There you can set a time offset.

@djsamuel is right, @mjmoore17 I never called out any owners on here. If you took offense that is your interpretation but not what is written. My issue is with the new board not with any owners. Did I call out any current owners? No. Did I say the owners here were bad? No. I suggested plenty of real live owners were elsewhere.

I have real expectations that this board will be sanitized to only reflect what the new managment wants published. I like the other board and I take offense to some company just taking that away for no apparent reason. Worse yet they put out a lame excuse about security, data retention, and ads...that's insulting to us as owners. How do we know LL won't just shut this board down when it doesn't go as they want? So for for data retention then...

I wish there was a like button.

The increased security that I was referring to was (2) fold.
1.) Of most concern was the data was not secure as it was a service that could be here today and gone tomorrow.  That service at one time was free, like the original forum was, and then once upgraded it was a paid service, and then upon renewal the the price went up.  Price was not as much as issue as the fact it was proprietary, and the data was at risk. Because it was a service provided by a third party it could be here today and gone tomorrow.

2.)You may had noticed there was advertising on that site that displayed adds. Because it was on a forum that we paid for suggested we endorse those products.
I personally run add blockers on any browser I use so they do not appear, but the fact that they were there in itself  should tell you the security of your information is at risk and you are probably passing at the minimum your browsing habits and what your interests are.  That is why for instance you may have just been on amazon looking at a new fancy gadget or phone and when you went to the forum you may have seen an advertisement that was for the same or similar item.

Thanks.  On number 1, I see what you mean.  I hadn't thought of security in terms of loss of forum data, I was thinking in terms of personal ID security.  However, LivinLite seems to have accomplished the data loss in one swoop by deleting the data.  However, from this point on, I see your point.

For number 2, I disagree.  The ads were obviously from Google Ads or similar source and obviously were based on user cookie information.  As such, I can see no way LivinLite could have been accused of officially endorsing those products, at least legally.

In any case, thanks for the reply.

ACF...I'm giving it a shot. There is a category named "Ask Livn' Lite".  Maybe we will have some factory representation on this site. I don't think you'll find that on the other site.

Same here.  If there is an increased level of factory involvement and responsiveness, I'll give this the benefit of the doubt.  Otherwise, it was all an attempt to shut up those of us who paid a high premium for our trailers and have been honest about the appalling inconsistencies in quality control and carelessness during construction.  Certainly not limited to LivinLite.

Just signing in from the older forum, which I MUCH preferred.

I'll give this a chance, but will be more active on the aluminumcamperforum.com.

As of now, I am no longer recommending LivinLite.  but will see what direction this forum takes.  I used to feel like a LivinLite salesman on other boards such as GoodSam's RVForum; but that ended a month or so ago.  Perhaps that will change.

Welcome Back.  Shame we had to start all over but we are much more secure here. ;D

Secure from what?

It reflects more on the way Livin Lite/Thor/K-Z (or whoever they are today) handled the changeover in forums.  I don't think the poster meant anything personal.  I believe the assessment of honesty on this forum is rooted in the level of moderation and removal of negative posts that would take place here versus the previous more independent forum.

Increased security? What the heck was wrong with the previous system? If there was a security problem, please post what that was!
