Title: setting up Quicksilver 8.0 alone
Post by: kmesaaz on October 07, 2017, 12:20:42 PM
Can one person set up the Quicksilver 8.0 alone? The video says you can, but then throughout the video it mentions having a friend or family member help.

I have a 10.0 and have no problem opening and closing it myself.

I set up and take down mine by myself. I just did so last weekend to clean out and organize some gear for an upcoming trip.

I usually solo camp with my 8.0 and have no problem.  It would be a bit quicker to have an extra set of hands but it just takes me about 10 minutes or so.

I would say it depends... I am a 5'5" female of average strength. I can do most of the set up procedure myself except lifting the Bimini poles and tent. It's just too bulky and heavy.

I found it much easier to pull the canvas from the end of the bunks than trying to actually lift the bimini poles.  I also leave the windows on the end unzipped.  When I unfold the bunks I support them with sticks one on each end that hold them about 6 inches above their assembled position.  Only after attaching the canvas fully do I remove the sticks and attach the struts.
