It has always been a pretty low priority for them and this hijacked new forum seems to be more like an echo chamber for questions that go unanswered and issues that aren't addressed. People expect factory participation on a factory hosted forum, and it's just not there...

If it's true, then he left without even mentioning it or introducing his replacement. Doesn't seem right...

The trim strip is azdel, not wood.

Maybe on your trailer it is, but take a closer look at the original image:

The azdel on my trailer has a white core and has fuzzy edges where it's cut. This has a dark irregular core with sharp splinters where it's cut. Looks like luan plywood to me.

It looks like the nails are being pulled out by warped plywood... I never thought I'd say that in a livin lite forum  :(

Maybe try hammering it back down with some double-stick tape underneath? My guess is some moisture from the bathroom is causing the plywood to swell. What material are the nails going into?

General Q & A / Re: Power Inverter

Just use an extension cord on the AC side. The losses to resistance on the DC side would be extreme unless you used very thick cables. At 600 watts it could draw up to 50 amps on the DC side.

I don't really get this solar connector stuff. There's already a 12V connector on every trailer that has brakes. Just plug your charger to the 7-way connector with one of these and you're set:

https://www.amazon.com/58150-7-Way-Blade-Connector-Socket/dp/B001EP0G72/

I prefer to connect directly to the battery to eliminate any extra resistance in the wires, but it seems silly to poke holes in the side of the trailer to add a proprietary connector when there's already a connector sitting out in the open.

Finally some info. Thanks for posting it... but why did it take two and a half weeks to get this and why isn't LL just posting it directly? Seems like it should be in their marketing materials honestly. So of the five layers, which is the brown fuzzy one from the video? Is that the fiberglass backing of the Azdel?

Interesting that there has been no response from LL at this point.

This is their chance to sell us on how great all these "improvements" are. I'm open minded... maybe there's some great benefit that I haven't noticed yet. But with complete silence we have to figure it out on our own (not looking great so far).

If there are reasons that these make for a better product then please share them. Even if those reasons are just "it's cheaper and easier to build", then at least tell us how much it's saving us, or give us the option pay more for the old version.

I don't know why they didn't think to weld the short bars running front to back at the top of the crossbars rather than the bottom, that would have provided some support by cutting the unsupported areas in half (LL are you listening?)

Then they'd have to make sure the top welds were ground flat. This way they can go wild with the welds and never even clean them up.

Wow, I just watched part of fourth video and I'm shocked. The unsupported spans of the floor are way bigger than I would have expected. And that fuzzy wood-looking material coming out of the holes looks mighty absorbent to be left unsealed. Even if it's not actually wood, that will most likely sop up water like crazy when road spray hits it. I didn't even think about how the new floor would hurt the cable/hose routing, but that one shot where the propane line is rubbing against a sharp aluminum corner is very concerning.

Fiberglass sides? Really?

So the roof turned to rubber, the floor turned to foam, the cabinets are now MDF, and the walls are now fiberglass? What's left?

I guess there's still an aluminum frame, but that's pretty common for "light" trailers. Even my old Rpod had aluminum framed walls.

We happily pay a premium for these over other more fully equipped campers because of the way they are (were) built to last. I'm sorry to see that has changed. In any case, new buyers should be made aware of these substantial improvements [sic] so they can make an informed purchase decision for themselves.

These changes are disappointing, but even more disappointing is that they weren't communicated to you before you made the purchase. Honestly, I would have (and still would) approach the dealer and tell them that this isn't what you agreed to buy. If I ordered a car and they delivered a vehicle with a foam floor, seats that don't fold down anymore, no 12v accessory plugs, and various other build issues then I wouldn't have even accepted it.

As far as I know Dan from LL is the only moderator. Outside of business hours there's no moderation. It's probably a long weekend for LL, so those posts will most likely hang around until Wednesday.

Mostly... aluminumcamperforum.com was created around the time the original host (proboards) was running out of storage for photos of the growing forum. The storage issue was resolved when LL provided support for the original forum and aluminumcamperforum.com co-existed quietly for a while.

Oh, and don't forget the part where the old domain name isn't even used. Look up at the address bar ^ *livinlite.com*.... the original forum domain (livinlite-owners.com) just redirects here. The two could have still co-existed, but LL probably wanted to use the old traffic to jump start things here. Of course all of that traffic is looking for posts that don't exist here...
