Can I take the 5-hour class if my plastic permit hasn't arrived? I have the paper one and a NY State ID. Also, does anyone know if they ship the completion certificate to any US address?

Hi, you can usually take the 5-hour pre-licensing course with a temporary paper permit, as long as it's valid and you also have proper ID like your NY State ID. Most schools accept this combination, but it's always smart to confirm in advance. During my search I found https://coreway.nyc/pre-licensing-course, and they outline requirements and options clearly. As for the certificate, many providers can mail it to any US address, but check shipping details when booking.

That's a relief about the paper permit! I'm currently staying with family out of state for a few weeks—does Coreway NYC offer expedited shipping to addresses outside of New York? I really want to have my MV-278 in hand so I can book my road test the moment I get back to Brooklyn.

I had mine shipped to New Jersey last month and it arrived in just two days with the priority option. Just make sure your paper permit is signed and legible for the Zoom check-in. The instructor will verify your NY State ID during the live session, and you'll be all set for the certificate!
